Bangladesh's Chief Advisor Requests Former Malaysian Prime Minister Mohammed to Help Bangladesh Join ASEAN

According to the news portal of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha BSS News on Thursday, the interim head of government and Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus of Bangladesh has requested the assistance of Mahathir Mohamad, a senior Malaysian politician, 99 year old former prime minister, and creator of the "Malaysian economic miracle", to help Bangladesh join the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

According to the practice of ASEAN rotating the presidency annually, Malaysia will assume the presidency of the regional organization in 2025.
The meeting between the two politicians was held during the 30th "Asia Future Forum" organized by Nikkei Media Group in Tokyo.
According to the Bangladesh News Agency, Yunus' press secretary Shafik Alam informed reporters of the meeting results that due to Bangladesh's active pursuit of joining ASEAN, the chief advisor requested Mahathir Mohamad to use his prestige to consider this issue,
